NOSTALGIA 2020

[EN] Nostalgia is a dance performance created in situ at Fondation Renaud in Lyon, France. In it I stage an inversion between exterior and interior, as well as between natural and cultural spaces, through the dialectics between Nostalgia (the choreography) and Nostalgia (the installation). The choreography is a narrative of the extinction of a fictional bird species. The installation is composed of natural materials (volcanic rocks surrounded by red wool thread) taken from specific locations which I have explored or which influenced me. Resembling an ancient archeological site, the gallery space is scattered randomly with volcanic rocks which represent a vector for memory, as well as an aggressive intervention in the original places where these rocks were found. Thus Nostalgia stages two transformative processes of nature by man.

[FR] Nostalgia est une performance de danse créée in situ à la Fondation Renaud à Lyon. Je mets en scène une inversion entre extérieur et intérieur, entre espace naturel et espace culturel, par le biais d’une dialectique entre Nostalgia (la chorégraphie) et Nostalgia (l’installation). Cette dernière est composée de matériaux naturels (pierres volcaniques entourées de fil en laine rouge) prélevés des zones géographiques précises que j’ai explorées ou qui m’ont formée, et parsemés aléatoirement dans l’espace de la galerie. Les pierres volcaniques représentent un vecteur de souvenir, à l’instar de vestiges archéologiques primitifs, de même qu’elles se posent comme une métaphore de la transformation de sites naturels par l’intervention humaine. La chorégraphie, quant à elle, représente la narration de la disparition d’une espèce fictive d’oiseau.
