FANTÔMES 2020

[EN] Fantômes / Ghosts are large-scale, handmade sculptures made out of recycled paper and wool spun in my native village in Romania. Light, flexible, and resistant truss structures, the Ghosts are a family of one of a kind sculptures which represent all the invisible, yet palpable presences that accompany us and shape our daily existence. The first series of Ghosts were built in situ the Mapraa art gallery in Lyon, France. These sculptures were made in June 2020, during an art residency in this institution, and were presented to the public during a solo show in June and July 2020.

[FR] Les Fantômes sont des sculptures de grande taille réalisées à la main en papier recyclé et fil en laine tissé dans mon village natal en Roumanie. Ces structure en treillis sont très légères, flexibles et résistantes, et représentent les présences invisible bien que palpables qui nous accompagnent et qui transforment nos existences. Cette première série de Fantômes a été réalisée in situ à la Mapraa (Maison des Arts Plastiques et visuels Auvergne Rhône-Alpes) à Lyon, pendant une résidence d’artiste qui m’a été offerte par cette institution en juin 2020. Ces sculptures ont fait le sujet d’une exposition solo qui a eu lieu entre le 19 juin et le 16 juillet 2020.
