CHESS 2020

[EN] Chess is a performance which deals with conformity, rebellion, and the frontier which separates these two states of mind. During a chess game, rules are progressively broken through illegal movements of the pieces on the board. More than non-rules, we assent to new rules which substitute themselves for the established ones. New prohibitions are established - such as the impossibility of killing the opponent's pieces or checkmating the opponent through random movements.

[FR] Chess est une performance qui traite de conformité et de rébellion, et de la frontière qui sépare ces deux états. Au fil d’une partie d’échecs, les règles du jeu sont ponctuellement transgressées, sous forme de mouvements aléatoires des pièces sur l’échiquier. Surviennent alors de nouveaux interdits, avec l’impossibilité temporaire de ramasser les pièces de l’adversaire et l’interdiction de la mise en échec et mat. Plutôt que de non-règles, on assiste à de nouvelles règles qui s’y substituent par moments.
